Cinnamon Tortilla Chips
Ingredients:
1 whole wheat tortilla, 10 inch (70 grams or 2.5 oz.)
cinnamon sugar
butter flavored cooking spray

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350° F.  Coat one side of tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray.  Place tortilla spray side down on large baking sheet.  Slice into 5 equal size wedges.  Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.  Spray sugar side with butter flavored cooking spray.  Bake for 8-10 minutes until desired crispness is obtained.
Cool before serving.

Yield:  5 servings
Serving Size:  Each serving provides a grains/breads serving at snack for children 3-5 years.

Banana Bites                                                    

                2 large bananas (2 cups fruit)
              
 2 cups puffed rice cereal

                ¼ cup peanut butter Pour the cereal onto a medium size plate. Peal the bananas and remove the skins.  Using a table knife spread the peanut butter over the entire surface of each banana.  Roll each banana in the cereal.  Cut into bite sized pieces.
Yield:  4 servings
Serving Size:  Each serving provides a fruit/vegetable and meat alternate at snack for children 3-5 years.

Fresh Tomato Bruschetta
2 cups diced fresh tomatoes
3 cloves minced garlic
2/3 cup fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 loaf Italian bread

Preheat oven to 475̊ F. 

In a medium bowl mix together all ingredients except bread.  Slice the bread into 8 slices 1 inch thick (at least .5 oz. per slice).  Brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil.  Place bread oil side down on a baking sheet.  Place in oven and bake until golden brown.  Remove from oven and let bread cool.  Top with tomato mixture and serve immediately. 

Yield: 8 slices
Serving Size: Each serving provides a grains/breads and 1/4 cup fruit/vegetable serving at lunch/supper for children 3-5 years.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

2 large bananas (1 cup fruit)
12 frozen strawberries
1 cup white grape juice

Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor.  Mix on high until fully blended.

Yield: 4 servings (1/2 cup each)
Serving Size: Each serving provides a fruit/vegetable at snack for children 3-5 years.
