Nutrition and Fitness programming
ACA provides training and curricula materials to ACA providers for delivery of nutrition and physical activity curricula:
The USDA’s “Nutrition and Wellness Tips for Young Children: Provider Handbook for the Child and Adult Care Food Program”
This nutrition curriculum includes practical tips for caregivers and fun ways to encourage children to eat more healthily, such as encouraging children to “build their plates with fruits, vegetables, beans, protein, whole grains” and other foods. This curriculum also focuses on food allergies and promoting “active play every day.”
“Let’s Move” Physical Activity Curricula
This curriculum emphasizes easy ways for children to get be active, through games and alternative ways to think of exercise that is fun and involves the whole family. It works on a challenge and reward system so participants find the experience fun and are rewarded for their hard work.
